GREENSBORO Mrs. and Mrs. Owen T. McCusker announce the engagement of Mrs. McCusker's daughter Sara Norman to be married in November. The couple plans a celebration in Greensboro with family and friends in attendance.
Miss Sharon Lynn Stroud and Lacy Joseph Hoover announce a planned November 23 ceremony in High Point at the bride’s home. Stroud, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey W. Stroud, and Hoover, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold M. Hoover, are both graduates of Allied Jay High School. Stroud works in Heritage Furniture Co. accounting. Hoover in Masonite Fib ractors office in Thomasville. The couple met through families including Miss Sara Elizabeth Norman and Lt. James Peter Oppenheim. Stroud attends North Carolina State College studying applied mathematics. Hoover earned a geological engineering degree from State College and joined Tau Kappa Epsilon. The wedding date is set for November 23 in High Point.
Local church women's groups schedule meetings this week. First Presbyterian Women convene Monday October 7 at 9:00 am in the ladies parlor with luncheon program led by Mrs Elliot Hester and president Mrs Hal A Davis. Forest Hills Presbyterian circles meet Monday at 10 am. Circle 4 meets 8 pm with Mrs L Frank Smith. Calvary Methodist circles meet Monday or Tuesday with Circle 1 at 7:30 pm and Circles 2 3 4 at 7 pm. Archdale Methodist Susanna Wesley Class meets Tuesday 7:30 pm. Oak View Methodist hosts Christian Issues in Southern Asia study beginning Wednesday 7:30 pm led by Mrs Fred H. Macon. St Edward's Guild invites women to Dr Harvey G Tiles talks Monday 8 pm and Tuesday 1:30 pm in Madonna Room.
The Y. T. Mann Unit of the American Legion auxiliary will meet Thursday at 7 30 p m. The gathering will be held at the legion home on High Street.
