Nomination Fight For Seventh District Judge Resumes
A six member committee in Raleigh reconvenes to pick a Democratic nominee for Superior Court Judge in the Seventh Judicial District after a 3 3 split. Wake County backed Kiam Y. Bickett while Franklin County backed Hill Yarborough. Judge Louisburg lawyer W. C. Harris retires after 27 years on the bench. Raymond Maxwell of the State Board of Elections requires the nominee name by next Monday to print ballots for the November 2 election. Some Franklin residents fear this may be the county’s only chance to secure a judge as the 1955 General Assembly could redraw district lines.
