Sergeant and Wife Lose Two Babies After Car Deaths
South Hill Virginia Army sergeant Set. H. E. McCormick and his wife left two infants in a car while they fished. A 4 month old, Harold McCormick Jr., died at the scene. Gracie M. McCormick, 17 months, died en route to Camp Pickett hospital. Authorities said the younger child suffocated. The couple and another pair had locked the children in the car on Kerr Dam bank, with one window slightly open, and returned to find no movement from the infants. The sergeant reported the children were briefly seen active before dying. Army investigators will review the case at Camp Pickett.

An Audubon Society official notes the birds, mainly warblers and thrushes, misjudge distances and try to dodge the lit tower by flying beneath it.
