Thieves Steal 45 000 Dollar Safe From Angier Home
Sheriff W E Salmon reported that a Harnett County landowner N A Matthews saw his safe containing about 16 000 in cash 17 000 in government bonds and 12 000 in other securities stolen from his bedroom while his family attended Neills Creek Baptist church. The heavy three foot high steel safe bore the name J A Matthews. Police believe entry was made through a back door and the safe was rolled to a back porch and loaded onto a truck. Officers sought BI agents for leads. Matthews runs extensive farming operations in the county.

Six year old shoots brother over comic book dispute
In New Castle Pennsylvania a six year old boy wounded his ten year old brother during a bedroom argument about trading a comic book. The older, Geo Lee Nail, died at a local hospital hours later. The shot was fired by the younger brother Samuel Thomas. The father admitted keeping a loaded gun in the home. The district attorney says Samuel cannot be questioned and a juvenile court handling will pursue charges. The Commonwealth believes a child under seven cannot be charged.
