Train Crash Kills Ten In Plant City Florida

An Amtrak Floridian passenger train struck a pickup carrying a camper near Plant City at 8:25 p.m. killing ten people including seven children. Police said many victims were migrant workers. 40 train passengers survived uninjured.

Hostage condemns capitulation after hijacked flight

Jenabe Caldwell a 51 year old Anchorage missionary among freed hostages from a hijacked Japan Air Lines plane condemned Japan's capitulation to terrorists. He said the 4 percent a day ordeal was brutal but warned against giving in to criminals. He urged standing firm and called the hijackers mostly boys yet said they would not have blown up the plane. Caldwell spoke by telephone from Holy Family Hospital.

Hijackers Free Last Hostages and Surrender

Five hijackers who seized a Japanese jetliner released the remaining 19 hostages and surrendered to Algerian authorities after a six day cross continental journey. A Japan Air Lines spokeswoman quoted the hijackers surrendering with hands up.
