New Superhighway South Of City Expected In Year
Enterprise staff writer reports the southeastern city area will gain a dual lane superhighway within about a year. Welch of the State Highway and Public Works Department cites weather as a factor and outlines progress from the Salisbury bypass to Efland, with grading complete on 15 miles and paving near completion on 16.5 miles. The project uses federal and state funds, with each lane costing about 40 000 dollars per mile and total paving near 3 million dollars plus higher right of way costs.
