North Carolina vital statistics show 94 people died aged over 100 in 1925 16 whites and 78 blacks. Infants under one year totaled 6 792 deaths in 1926. In Charlotte a preliminary hearing continues for Rev Willis Jordan accused of bigamy after a Georgia woman testified about a whirlwind courtship and disappearance leading to the minister's arrest.

New Orleans October 3 AP Douglas Acomb cashier for the New Orleans States was shot in the abdomen and seriously wounded as he carried the weekly payroll into the States building. A robber wearing glasses seized the satchel and fled after a single shot, entering a car and escaping around the building corner.
Rains of cloudburst proportions and high winds caused flooding and damage from Texas to Kansas and Oklahoma. Two deaths in southern Texas and multiple injuries were reported as floods inundated acres of crops and delayed rail and road traffic. High winds wrecked buildings in Columubia Kansas and stranded motorists across Missouri and parts of Kansas. A barge capsized near Port Arkansas with no lives lost. Snow closed passes in Wyoming and the Medicine Bow region.
John R. Samuels 26, former Walkertown resident, was killed near Beckley West Virginia about 2 a m Sunday. Body brought to his parents home for burial. Funeral at Bethlehem near Walkertown tomorrow. Family has limited details. he was a West Virginia state officer and reportedly shot while attempting an arrest by unknown assailants.
In Bath Michigan on October 3 the discovery of 244 sticks of dynamite under a false floor in the burned two story school foiled a second massacre planned by Andrew Kehoe. The blast would have finished off the building. relief funds were supplied by U S Senator James A Couzens while survivors attend classes in the town hall.
Lassiter and company and Murray Construction company were the two bidders. Lassiter offered 13 657.63 to pave Fifth street and will finish in 29 working days. Murray bid 13 921.12 with 45 working days. City council tabled bids and will award on Wednesday at 11 o'clock.

Jordon remains jailed in Columbus awaiting trial with bond set at 10000 and his attorney aiming to move the case to superior court.
Greensboro experiences misty showers and a mild temperature between 79 and 80 degrees October 3. A late night and morning drizzle continues with a slight breeze, keeping the weather unsettled for the day.
SHANGHAI October 3 AP Consul General Cunningham will inform the Nanking foreign affairs department that unless excessive levies are withdrawn within 24 hours payments of American customs on tobaccos and liquors will be made to the consul according to treaty. This action follows Washington instructions.
William T Grady, former High Point resident who died in Atlanta last Saturday, will have funeral services at 514 South Hamilton Street tomorrow at 10:30 with Rev H Norwood Bowne officiating. Pallbearers chosen from the local Odd Fellows lodge. burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
