Ford and UAW Enter Weekend Talks in Detroit

Detroit AP report says Ford Motor Co and the United Auto Workers wrapped a week of bargaining and moved into weekend negotiations with no word on progress. UAW President Walter Reuther set a 10 a.m. Tuesday strike deadline and remarked they are prepared to move if Ford is. Battleship North Carolina Set to Reach Wilmington

Rusk and Gromyko End Berlin Talks Without Agreement

Secretary of State Dean Rusk and Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko wrapped 12-hour talks in New York on the Berlin crisis without a formal negotiation pact but agreed to meet in Washington this week. Olga Segler an 80 year old East Berlin resident died after jumping from her Bernauerstrasse apartment to a rescue net as authorities evicted 140 families and tightened the blockade to the West. She died days later in hospital as West Berlin mourns a woman torn by family love and political divide.

West Berlin Receives U S Mayors Backing
