Two Marine pilots die in jet collision near Morehead City
A Marine pilot 1st Lt Charles A Brunt 25 was killed when two A4D Sky Hawk jets from Attack Squadron 242 collided during a training flight near Newport River. Capt Harris J Fennell 28 ejected and survived. he was in good condition at Cherry Point Marine Air Station Hospital. Capt Fennell's family lived in Gilmer Texas. Brunt's family in Dundee Mississippi. A Marine Aircraft Accident Report Board will investigate. Coast Guard and Marine vessels searched the area for hours finding wreckage within a 1000 foot radius. Authorities expect Fennell to be released from hospital soon.
