In New York on November 30 the Appellate Division reversed a lower court ruling and ordered Justice Carew to act on Gloria Vanderbilt's habeas corpus plea seeking custody of her 10 year old daughter. Vanderbilt argues the court placed Gloria as ward of the Supreme Court with a half custody arrangement split between her mother and paternal aunt Mrs. Harry Payne Whitney.
