High Point Arts Scene Presents Christmas Play Auditions
Arts groups in High Point welcome performers and volunteers for the first annual Christmas Present at High Point Theatre. Auditions for The Boy Who Couldn t Wait for Christmas run Monday 6 to 9 pm in Salon B. The play, written by Davie Helgeson, centers on a boy who searches for Christmas and aims at children ages four to twelve. Rehearsals start Wednesday, with previews planned for the holiday season.

Four die in Rocky Mount Terminal Hotel fire
A cigarette sparked blaze at the Terminal Hotel in Rocky Mount early Saturday gutting a two story brick structure. Four persons were killed and one slight injury reported as 21 residents were inside. three victims were tentatively identified as Willie Pittman Moody McKenny and Joseph Brown.
