State Park Plans Open For Public Comment In North Carolina
The North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation will hear public input December 7 on master plans for New River and Mt. Jefferson state parks. Proposals include three New River access points, a river canoe trail, and hiking and horseback trails, with Mt. Jefferson debated as a natural area or expanded park requiring 1,000 more acres. A state trail corridor linking New River, Mt. Jefferson, and Stone Mountain is also proposed. The Ashe County courthouse hosts the meeting.
