Power Sought To Force Tests For Drivers' License
Raleigh November 28 Power to force inefficient drivers to take drivers license examinations will be sought by the State Motor Vehicles Department when the 1943 legislature convenes. Commissioner T Boddie Ward said if personnel were available he would ask the general assembly to require reissuance every three years to weed out the unfit but competent help limits the move. Since licenses were issued to 1 256 366 North Carolinians many with no questions asked later perfunctory exams were given and only 32 000 of the licensed drivers have received strict examinations.
