The Cunard liner Mauretania was badly damaged after colliding with a New Jersey to Staten Island car float off Robbins Reef near the Statue of Liberty. Two holes were found below the water line, a float car was broken, and the ship returned to Quarantine for inspection before heading back to its pier.
