Two airships were brought down in flames off the northeast coast as British crews attacked during a raid. Both crews perished. one vessel exploded far at sea. A woman was killed and 16 injured in the Zeppelin raid and the raid involved bomb drops totaling 760.
An official statement reports a German airplane bombed London from high altitude this afternoon, dropping six bombs. Four people were injured and damage was described as slight, with the attack described as war caused.
A list for subscriptions of money clothing and food for the Masonic orphanage in Oxford was posted at Mat ton's drug store this morning. The fund organized by Numa F Reid lodge 244 A P F and A M is seeking broad support and expects a large contribution of garments and provisions.
About 100 children scheduled to participate in the Tom Thumb wedding in the high school auditorium on Friday evening. Mrs Virginia Warren arrives today to direct rehearsals with parents to bring children to the auditorium at 4 pm tomorrow for the first drill. The event is under the High Point chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy and will not affect the Commercial club reception and dance that night. A wedding feast will follow the ceremony.
The cotton market opened steady with a slight decline of 7 points to 3 points. Trade buying and some outside demand lifted positions 4 to 7 points, but prices slipped later in the first hour with January at 20.75 and May at 21.10. December opened 20.60, January 20.70, March 26.93, May 21.12, July 21.13.
Berlin reports a broad cut in railroad traffic starting December 1. Schedules are being revised to remove trains that can be dispensed with and to reduce cars including sleeping and dining cars on most services.
North State residents refuse to pay as Housewives League and city officials push an eye and egg boycott. New York November 28 The Federal Reserve Board warning on English treasury bills showed little impact on the opening of the stock market. Prices mostly held steady with no declines beyond a fraction and some rails advancing. Trading was moderate and there were no nonsettlements reported in any quarter.
Chicago Nov 28 Teutonic successes in the Balkans helped wheat bulls. Early trading showed mixed moves with December at 1733-4 and May around 1.80 to 1.81. After a moderate setback prices turned up, finishing above yesterday except for July deliveries.
Cornelius N. Bliss, treasurer of the Republican National Committee, filed the final financial statement showing total contributions of 2,445,421 from 34,205 contributors and expenditures of 2,441,565, leaving a surplus of 2,856.

Juarez Mexico November 28 General Treviño receives fresh forces assembled at Sauz station thirty two miles north of Chihuahua. General Gonzales commander of the Juarez brigade leaves with a train of men and communities to move the units toward the city.
In Paso, Texas, Nov 28 government officials say they have received positive information that General Trevino leading the Carranza forces is evacuating Chihuahua due to ammunition shortages. They have forwarded a report to Washington.
The U S ship Neptune arrived at the quarantine station near the Mississippi with two holes in its smokestack from a high powered rifle fired by aboard the British steamer Lythian of the Leyland line during a Saturday incident. Federal officials received reports from quarantine staff detailing the attack at the New Orleans station.
Three local banks in High Point report Christmas savings clubs will payout over 35 000 to about 1 800 residents by mid December. Home Banking with New Year Savings club expects about 18 000 for December 15. Commercial National banks 10 000. Bank of Commerce Ready Money club about 8 000.

A prominent coal dealer reports there is no coal shortage though consumers fear shortages and stock up for a year. He notes more coal arriving this year than last and predicts a market glut by Christmas with reduced sales for steaming coal users.
