High Point police say traffic violation arrests fell from about 150 since last Saturday to 16 by yesterday noon as officers cited drivers on Main Street for double parking and blocking traffic. Chief W G Friddle cited targeted enforcement and empty loading zones at Main and High streets to ease congestion while motorists protested red tickets. Regional supervisor C W Snyder noted prepared passenger loading areas and a bridge corner to prevent double parking as a sign of tangible progress.
