Eight people die in a multi car collision on U S 301 near Olanta South Carolina including six members of the Curran family. Collision of Ships Kills 16 in Dense New Jersey Fog

Paratroopers seize Paulis in Congo rescue effort

Belgian paratroops and U S transports staged a dawn attack on Paulis Congo, eight planes hit by ground fire as troops secured the airfield.
