Great Smoky Mountains Park Proposed as Nation’s Finest
Washington Nov 26 The National Parks Bulletin advocates creating the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to match the finest in the system. Robert Sterling Yard says the park will protect Appalachian land and flora, offer high elevation mountains, rivers, and old growth forests, and join Yellowstone and others in size and prestige. He urges private lands be purchased for the park and warns Congress against selective acquisitions.
