Official Accused Of Political Arm Twisting In I-85 Case
Davidson County Commissioner Tommy Evans faces allegations of political arm twisting as he opposes a federal aid safety project on Temporary I-85 near Thomasville. The dispute centers on closing a median crossover to Cecile's Quarry access, with DOT noting 15 accidents at the crossover since 1971. Evans and his associates seek a quarry access road, while officials say plans progress on schedule. Local figures accuse Evans of using influence with lawmakers and DOT leaders to benefit his family’s quarry interests.
