A rainy front moved across the state Friday and passed off the coast about midnight. Now fair skies will persist through Sunday with continued cool, pleasant conditions for outdoor activities.
Forecasts show fair to mild conditions across North Carolina South Carolina and Virginia with cooler tonight highs in the 50s to 60s and overnight lows generally in the 30s to 40s. Winds dimishing in Virginia and mountain areas see increasing clouds Sunday with small craft warnings lifted along the coast.
Event notes show a late night screening titled Fairy Tales for Adults in Color X Rated with proof of age required. Entry restricted to attendees 18 and older.
In Los Angeles Charles Manson spoke for about two hours in his witness stand appearance. He defended his philosophy and rebutted parts of the state case while the defense rested to avoid calling his three female co-defendants. The judge adjourned the trial to November 30 for final arguments.
The General Council of the Presbyterian Church in the U S declined to act on resolutions opposing the proposed merger with the United Presbyterian Church. A task force recommended no council action, noting church courts may handle any out of order resolutions. Resolutions have been adopted by several presbyteries including Kings Mountain East Alabama Harmony Enoree Abingdon Asheville Southern Mississippi Central Mississippi Everglades.
The North Carolina Board of Elections debated four recount and new election requests amid alleged irregularities from the Nov. 3 vote. Republican Hubert Lowe seeks a Alamance County state senate recount, Thomas Harrelson requests Brunswick-Columbus house recount, Craven County seeks a new county commissioner election, and William Powell asks Buncombe County vote be set aside or a new four-county district election. A fifth Ashe County case was postponed indefinitely at the petitioners’ attorney request.
