GREENVILLE AP reports Dr. Andrew A. Best, a Greenville physician and state Human Relations Committee member, received two consecutive two year suspended sentences for illegally dispensing controlled substances. He was fined 2000 and ordered to pay 1000 on each count plus costs after a Pitt County jury found him guilty on two counts. He was acquitted on four related charges and plans to appeal. SBI agents testified he prescribed stimulants on five occasions to satisfy requests for drugs to stay awake.
