Russia Must Buy in World Market
French Front on October 17 reports a German plan to attack Verdun region near Anberive and Sonain height. The First Bavarian division led a costly assault drill with shock troops, booty squads, and gas, intended for August 16–17, to seize French artillery and terrain. French artillery and raids disrupted the plan, forcing the crown prince to delay and redeploy forces toward Verdun, yielding no harvest of prisoners or land.
