Girl 3 Dies After Hepatitis Surgery
In Atlanta an emergency operation to save a gravely ill 3-year-old girl by linking her circulatory system to a chimpanzee liver failed. The child died Monday night at Henrietta Egleston Hospital for Children at Emory University. Her name was not released. She suffered from a viral liver disease. The five hour procedure last Thursday aimed to sustain her liver while her own fought the disease.
