Leaf Prices Fall on Seasonal Low in Virginia and North Carolina
The Associated Press reports flue cured tobacco prices dipped to season low weekly averages on Virginia North Carolina markets. Old Belt totals reached 27.5 million pounds at $49.74 per cwt while season sales hit 258.3 million pounds at $51.44. Eastern Belt averaged $42.85 with 5.83 million pounds sold. Middle Belt priced at $50.36 from 7.76 million pounds. Final sales dates include Nov 20 for Eastern Belt and Nov 30 for Henderson and Louisburg. Old Belt deliveries under government price support around 19.3 percent.
