The Liberators by Wesley Towner review in Progress Book Club
Wesley Towner argues the American army leaves behind Americanism in occupied Germany. Christopher Day persuades Col. Carruthers to grant democracy, aiding displaced persons and natives. Yet Nazis and old nobility outmaneuver them as military rigidity blurs into communism versus democracy. Towner’s liberal aims show uneven storytelling.
