Penalty on late listing revoked by county board
County commissioners in special session unanimously struck out the 10 percent penalty on property carried late this year. The action follows guidance from the attorney general that the penalty applies only to properties that escaped taxation, not those merely not listed. The move excludes prior years and maintains fines for unlisted properties detected by a separate drive that added about 2 million dollars to the tax rolls.
