German law trainees study American life at Duke
Fifteen German law graduates and young lawyers participate in Duke University Law School under the State Department exchange program. They visit courts, prisons, schools, the Capitol, TVA region, and mining areas to observe American law in action and meet Americans. They note calmer political discourse, closer student professor relations, and social informality, while calling ashtray shortages a minor quirk.
