Caroll B Council of 1221 Cedron Ave has joined the Greensboro group office of the State Mutual Life Assurance Co of America as group supervisor. Council studied at the University of North Carolina and served in the US Marine Corps during World War II. He entered the insurance field in 1961 after five years self employment.
Local leaders and county, state, and federal officials map anti poverty programs in Guilford County. A new 11 member evaluation committee will review proposals from High Point, Greensboro, and rural areas and forward recommendations to Raleigh.

Notice announced Saturday that the Cosmopolitan Insurance Co receivership moves from High Point to the Raleigh office of the Commissioner of Insurance. Ed win S Lanier serves as conservator and said the change takes effect Monday with claims due by a court-set date, after which actions require court order.
T. E. Hinson 65, native of Monroe and former Chapel Hill resident, died Saturday at Memorial Hospital from a heart attack. He was city manager of High Point from 1947 to 1959 and later served as an adviser. Survived by wife Irene, daughter Dr. John Hinson, and Buck Hinson of Tampa. Funeral Monday at St Marys Episcopal Church with graveside rites at Old Cemetery. Memorials to St Marys building fund.
A heated log washing pond near Atikokan Ontario will run a $6,000,000 sawmill at full capacity year round. The pond removes foreign matter from logs, with winter heating using off peak hydro to locate bark and other debris.
