Coating Of Limestone Helps Surface Of Soil
Gardeners in heavy soil sections find benefit in a light coating of limestone on the soil surface this season. Frost action will drive it into the soil. A soil test tells how much lime is needed, commonly 3 to 100 square feet. If soil is heavy and already limey, gypsum may fix the issue without changing acidity. Bare gardens can sow a green manure crop to boost humus. Check with local garden or farm stores for regionally best practice.
