Pentagon leaders draft the proposed military budget for the next fiscal year with a total near 41.0 billion dollars. Changes in aircraft and missile funding are anticipated as Secretary McElroy and aides meet with President Eisenhower to refine allocations.
The Eisenhower administration formed a national advisory committee chaired by Secretary of State Herter to bolster relations with Latin America, focusing on range problems and recommendations. Milton S. Eisenhower will serve on the panel, with Ike preparing for a Europe Africa Asia goodwill mission at Augusta. The president noted no country was singled out in approving the panel.

Moscow reports radio contact with Lunik III, the Soviet moon orbiter that photographed the hidden face of the moon, has been lost. The craft launched Oct. 4 and Prof. Leonid Sedov suggested a meteorite impact as a possible cause while en route to a U.S. conference.

Governor Luth er Hodges of North Carolina led a group of 60 businessmen home from Europe aboard a Pan American Boeing 707. A nose gear issue prompted the aircraft to dump fuel and divert to Keflavik Iceland for repairs before continuing to Idlewild New York, with a Sunday arrival after a delayed Saturday schedule.
Four High Point delegates Kenny Dowdy George Lyles J Harrison Covington and Earl N Phillips were delayed from returning home. They were expected last night but should arrive this afternoon barring complications. The Tar Heel governor issued a statement when contacted for comment.
An early morning crash on Route 311 north of High Point killed Juanita Hardy, 34, of 207 Lawndale Dr, and seriously injured Jewel McDaniel, 30, of the same address. The car left the road, crashed into a ditch, and both women were found by ambulance crews. Hardy was dead on arrival at High Point Memorial Hospital.
