North Vietnamese forces increased attacks in South Vietnam's northern provinces. Eight Americans were killed and 49 wounded in two main assaults near Hue, with three enemy soldiers reported killed. scattered fighting and multiple incidents occurred along the coast near Da Nang.
A Friday ambush 23 miles northwest of Hue left two Americans dead and 15 wounded as a patrol of the 101st Airborne checked for infiltration from Laos.
