Thousands across the United States joined moratorium demonstrations on Thursday and planned rallies for Saturday. In Chicago and New York City tens of thousands gathered in cold weather, with Dr. Benjamin Spock and entertainers like Pete Seeger and Leonard Bernstein urging a march on Washington. A candlelight vigil drew 100 people in Gallup New Mexico, while antiwar groups faced 50 counter demonstrators.
The second day of the Vietnam War peace moratorium moved through Washington with a large nocturnal march toward the White House and Capitol. Timothy Clark and other mourners called out fallen servicemen’s names as candles flickered in the chill air. No incidents were reported as the demonstrators pledged to persist until dawn, while President Nixon moved between the House and Senate to thank Congress for support.
AAP survey of 21 radio and TV stations shows 3,296 calls favoring Vice President Agnew's critique of networks' coverage versus 1,389 opposing. Viewers praised his speech as timely and some criticized networks for airing comments live while others faulted local stations for not broadcasting it live.

President Nixon with Mrs. Nixon and daughter Tricia witnessed the Apollo 12 launch at Cape Kennedy Florida. Air Force One landed at Patrick Air Force Base about two hours after departure from Andrews near Washington. About 3,500 people attended including scouts who sang God Bless America.
Sen. Mansfield hopes to fix a vote time on Haynsworth's Supreme Court confirmation, possibly Tuesday or Wednesday, as debate continues. Javits blasts the nomination, saying it would strike a blow to civil rights, while Cook accuses critics of masking ethics and fitness concerns. The tally shows 40 against, 87 for, 23 uncommitted, with Symington voting no and Pearson for with concerns.
