Census figures show Tf automobiles average three feet longer than ten years earlier. If trends continue, the additional road space needed for all registered motor cars would consume about half of the 41,000 mile increase in U S roadways from 1930 to 1940. There is roughly one filling station or garage for every mile and a half of surfaced highway in the United States.
