High Point city council debated an ordinance banning inflammable signs before buildings. P. C. McIntyre, theater manager, argued signs were inside due to lobby placement, but the council disagreed and ordered police to stop cloth signs in front of theaters and businesses.
Washington reports that state fuel administrators received full authority to issue regulations governing local distribution and fair pricing. The administrator may limit shipments to single consumers, require disclosure of on hand supply and demand, and prevent hoarding where legal authority exists.
An efficiency board at Camp Warden M Lean and Colonel Slocum announced a Charlotte native would receive a commission soon after arrival from Washington. John T. Sneed of Lynchburg Virginia J C Fairey of Orangeburg South Carolina and J O Bristie of Charlotte North Carolina are among officers listed as newly commissioned lieutenants in the signal officers reserve. A supplementary HQ report notes further high positions captured on the Italian front south of the Sugana valley.
Mrs. E T Corbett living near High Point reports 800 bushels of corn harvested from 12 acres. She notes snakes were abundant in cornfields with at least 30 killed this year. She has sown 30 acres of winter wheat on the former cropland, expecting a large harvest.
Newport News Virginia November 14 Lieutenant Resnati Italian aviator returned from New York to Langley field in a Capromi biplane with nine passengers in three hours and 49 minutes. He reached Langley at 2 40 p.m. after leaving New York at 10 51 a.m. Resnati said heavy fog and cold damp air challenged the flight. Captain H H Salmon of the United States army aviation section alternated piloting with Resnati.

Agricultural Extension service aims to place a demonstration home orchard in every township in counties with agents. Led by FH Jater and KR Hudson, plans from Floris horticulturist Weet outline one to one and a half acre orchards using select fruit, with guidance on planting, fertilizing, spraying and pruning. The project seeks health and thrift, not profit, and urges farmers to consult county agents or Raleigh for plans.
The text notes clerks and office workers show the highest tuberculosis death rate, tied to sedentary, poorly ventilated work and low nutrition.
