Word reached here that Pfc. Robert L. Berry, 24, son of Mr and Mrs James W Berry of Centennial Ave High Point, was seriously hurt in a mine explosion. He is in critical condition with chest and leg injuries while serving with Saleen in Korea. He is a father of two.

The High Point Chamber of Commerce will elect eight new directors from a slate of 16 nominees. Mail ballots have been sent to members for the nomination of candidates for the 25 member board. The 16 names will be mailed to the membership for a mail vote to select eight directors for three-year terms. The board totals 21 members plus the immediate past president. Directors elect officers each year for one year.
