In High Point, Lee Meredith, 63, was pulled from his smoke filled basement after a furnace fire. Firemen used the city’s Iron Lung device, a Rotary Club gift, to revive him. After 45 minutes in the device his breathing improved and doctors expect recovery. The blaze began when Meredith entered the basement to inspect the furnace as smoke filled the home.
