Lost Million On The Street Cores Passengers Injured In Derailment
Oakdale Tennessee November 11 Six persons were killed and scores injured when the Ponce de Leon northbound derailed on a curve near Glen Mary twenty five miles north of Oakdale. The engineer W A Eisman of Chattanooga and fireman Ed Grant of Rising Fawn Ga were among the dead. Most casualties occurred in the first three cars filled with excursionists from Chattanooga Lookout Mountain and Detroit Cincinnati. Relief trains rushed doctors nurses and ambulances to Somerset Rockwood Chattanooga and hospitals. About 175 passengers came from Detroit Cincinnati and other cities for the Ohio and Michigan excursion.
