In Philadelphia a laborer named William Flanagan, 43, was revived after doctors warmed his heart with hot sterile fluid and then with warm tap water following cardiac arrest. Surgeons and a priest were involved. the case was disclosed Monday as a remarkable operation.
In Great Falls Montana a sudden snowstorm caused multiple F89 Scorpion jet crashes. Four airmen died in two aircraft near Ulm and Lewistown while others parachuted to safety on a Montana ranch. A third plane crash near a hill noted by rancher Olind Jenni. Additional jets made emergency landings at Billings. a belly landing of a T33 trainer injured two. Names include Lt Ronald D Hemby Lt Charles G Daniels Lt Eugene A Murtha Lt James Johnson and others from Ellsworth AFB Rapid City and Rome. exact mission remains classified.
Gov Luther Hodges and 26 percent of the NC trade delegation arrived in Zurich from Munich to meet Swiss bankers and industry leaders in textiles machinery tobacco and transport. The group plans Paris talks with 135 Swiss bankers and diplomats. Hodges promotes using NC ports and invites German firms to set up offices.
AFL-CIO chief George Meany and Auto Union president Walter Reuther announce plans to press Congress to revamp national emergency strike laws after criticizing Eisenhower for ending the steel strike with Taft-Hartley. Emil Mazey accuses the White House of a political payoff to steel firms. The seven million strong union group adopts a resolution calling the injunction a strike breaking tactic and the Taft-Hartley Act a slave labor statute. The injunction was cited as imposed after the strike began to pinch the industry’s pocketbook.
Chrysler with a four day week can produce for two more weeks and Studebaker-Packard will continue through December 18 as steel supplies hold. Officials from the steel industry indicate ongoing limits affect output across several car makers.

Central Montana rancher Olind Jenni woke to the sound of two plane crashes in a blinding snowstorm ten miles west of Lewistown. He and others saw fire lighting the night as wreckage scattered, with two men surviving by parachute and taken to a nearby Hutterite colony then Lewistown.
Washington diplomats indicate the United States may cut foreign military and economic aid to shrink the overseas dollar gap. They fear Congress may push for more cuts or protectionist steps, while analysts foresee a rebound in American exports and a growing trade surplus in the coming years.

A five stage rocket launched from Wallops Island Va sent a small radio transmitter 1050 statute miles into the sky with the nose cone landing in the Atlantic about 28 minutes later. The instruments sent back data on space electron density over 800 miles up. The launch, by the Army Ballistic Research Laboratories with NASA, used an Honest John, two Nike Ajax boosters, a Recruit and a scaled Red missile. The 56.5 foot package weighed 7125 pounds and aimed for 17000 feet per second.
New York AP report says Dr. P. Shamsuddin, an interne from India, amputated an actor's leg with makeshift tools last weekend. He plans to quit New York for England after an elevator incident and has scheduled a meeting with Alvin J. Conway to try to persuade him to withdraw his resignation.
The Coast Guard barred all fires on a six mile Houston ship channel zone and within 300 yards of the banks after a tanker disaster releasing gasoline. Seven died on the Amoco Virginia. a city firefighter drowned cooling the ship and 25 were injured.
