Ernst Vom Rath, secretary at the German embassy in Paris, died of gunshot wounds inflicted by a 17 year old Polish Jew Herschel Grynszpan. Despite four blood transfusions under Adolf Hitler's doctors, Vom Rath died in a Paris hospital as Grynszpan remained in police custody.
