In Spangler Pennsylvania the Reilly mine disaster claims fifty bodies in the temporary morgue. Thirty two injured miners are in hospital and seventeen are still missing as rescuers contend with rapidly rising water hindering search efforts.
Chicago police broaden an investigation into Mrs. Lillie Klimeck, believed to have poisoned at least four husbands. Her current husband Joseph Klimeck is seriously ill from poison and life insurance. A coroner says a former husband’s body held poison enough to kill four men. Relatives ask exhumations of two more former husbands and the deaths of two cousins’ siblings after dining at the Klimeck home.
The Southern Furniture Manufacturers association holds its annual meeting in High Point with about 100 members expected. Dinners, addresses by Dr. W C Riddick on training for furniture workers, and talks by H G Croecker and others are planned. Friday sessions close the event.

Funeral services for James Griffin who died yesterday at his Mechanicsville home will be at 2 PM tomorrow at his home. Rev. F. Conrad and Rev. L. Ruth will officiate. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery. Griffin was a well known local resident.
President Harding plans to issue a call for a special session of Congress to convene November 20. Announcement was made today at the White House, indicating the timing and purpose to address legislative business.
The Parent-Teachers association of Elim Street School hosts a library program at 7 39 PM to stress school libraries' importance in High Point. The group aims to establish libraries in all city schools and observes Child's Book Week December 12 15 with efforts to kickstart the library movement.
Henry Stevens brother of Mrs. Frances Stevens Hall seeks to exit Lavalette New Jersey amid delays in the murder inquiry into Rev Edward W Hall and Mrs Eleanor Mills near New Brunswick on September 14. Stevens says he fished near Lavalette and named witnesses while authorities search for the killers. Mrs Ethel Stevens says the family may leave town to spur action. A man and a woman in a gray coat are described by Jene Gibson to investigators.
From Turkish nationalist headquarters comes word that British forces are withdrawing from Mesel on the Tigris in northern Mesopotamia and Kemalist troops are entering the vacated area.

The Associated Press will supply updates through midnight and readings will be broadcast by megaphone from the front windows of The Enterprise office. Three additional classes of Turkish soldiers have been called to the colors in a move affecting Constantinople. The navy confirms increased conscription and readiness as part of ongoing wartime measures.
James Rufus Barton native of Guilford county died at his Liberty Street home in High Point after months of poor health. Born November 21 1862 in Jamestown he lived mainly in High Point except 20 years in Indiana. Survived by wife Martha Madlin three sons George Charles Walter and three daughters Sarah Plymon Mary Nina Barton. Funeral tomorrow at 4 pm at his home with services by Rev Haworth and Rev Brown and burial in Oakwood cemetery with Numa F Reid lodge conducting.
Mrs. Mary Ella Sechrest born November 15 1847 in Lincoln county wife of J D Sechrest died at 4 30 this morning at 308 Mast Washington Street. She lived a long illness and leaves a son Henry Sechrest a sister Mrs J A Bielten of High Point. funeral at Wesley Memorial Church tomorrow at 3 pm with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. pallbearers listed.
North Carolina conference at Henderson adjourned as appointments were read. High Point churches listed include First Methodist Protestant with George K. Brown, Welch Memorial with Rev. J. H. Moton, and Lebanon with Rev. Edw. Suits among others.
Five hooded men in Klan robes drove up to a church in New Bern and presented Rev. Preston Bell Hall with five one hundred dollar bills for the building fund. The incident left the congregation stunned and unsettled by the symbolic donation.
A. W. White, cashier of the Bank of Stony Point, is missing from his home since November 2. Statesville reports an audit underway with an apparent shortage of about 9000 dollars as auditors begin work to complete the bank’s records.
