North Carolina Tax Revenues Rise in October
North Carolina collected about 11 percent more tax revenue in October than the same month last year. Officials call the rise healthy but warn it is too soon to judge the state revenue growth, with first quarter growth at 0.9 percent and the year to date around 3.9 percent. Some project 5 percent growth, while critics doubt meeting that target. Lt. Gov. Hunt cautions the anticipated rate may not be met. Governor Hoishouser rejects reports of General Fund trouble and predicts higher tax revenue in the first half of next year.
