Two Young Cousins Die in Gas Chamber for Cab Driver Killing
Bennie and Lloyd Ray Daniels, cousins from Pitt County, were executed in the Central Prison gas chamber after four years on death row. They were convicted of murdering and robbing a Greenville cab driver, William Benjamin O’Neal, near a tobacco barn. Lawyers failed to obtain further stays after appeals to state and federal courts, and clemency requests to Gov. Umstead.

Young Mother Beats Dead Husband After Car crash
Laurinburg North Carolina police investigated a night of terror as a young mother remained semi conscious unable to recount the events surrounding the death of her husband Paul Brown in a car crash. Their three children were found bruised in the overturned vehicle. Mrs Brown also beaten was found in a roadside weeds patch. Deputy Sheriff Lytch said Brown sought help to move his car from a ditch and later a body was found in weeds. Both parents had prior troubles.
