Escapees Still At Large From Wendell Road Jail
Five prisoners escaped during a highway work gang near Wendell. Frank Scott, Robert Sutton, Earl Am, Ralph Clinard, and Fred Ledwell fled after seizing a vehicle but abandoned it when guards fired. Scott and Sutton faced multi year sentences for burglary and robbery, while Am, Clinard, and Ledwell had various counts of kingpin burglary breaking and entering larceny. A telescope project at Mt Wilson, Calif aims to reach space distances of 7.2e21 miles.
