Rankin Ill Captures Emerywood Women’s Golf Title
Mrs. A M Rankin Ill won the Emerywood Country Club Women’s Golf Assn club championship at the final luncheon meeting. Runner up was Mrs. Joe O Lee. Tournament chair Mrs Royster Tucker presented trophies. October winners included Mrs John Schuerman and others. special awards went to Mrs Farrington, Mrs Stanford, and Mrs Boyd Jaeger. Officers elected: chairmen Mrs W P Jenkins and Mrs Donald Mahle. secretary treasurer Mrs Alton Stanford.

At the Catesby Bird Club meeting in the local library audio-visual room Mrs. Edgar Edwards reviewed a Pamlico Sound bird trip noting 28 rare species seen. A film on Mark Catesby 1680 1749 illustrated the English naturalist who studied American birds and life a century before Audubon. The club voted to donate Olen Sewell Pertingill Jr.s The Bird Watchers of America to High Point Public Library. Five guests and new member Mrs. E T Harrison attended.
