Monotony Keeps Voters From Polls
Raleigh AP report cites State Elections Director Alex K Brock predicting 28 percent of 2.2 million registered North Carolina voters will vote next Tuesday. He blames voter fatigue and frequent elections for low turnout while noting November 8 ballot items include constitutional amendments, government succession, regional power plant partnerships, deficit bans, inheritance equality, and hundreds of millions in highway and clean water bonds. The 10 percent drop from last year stems from a statewide purge of nonvoters since 1972 affecting Democrats Republicans and unaffiliated registrants.
