Four area high school seniors named DAR Good Citizens by the Alexander Martin chapter. Honorees include Jane Bernet of High Point Central Eppie Snider of Allen Jay Terri Price of Thomn High and Erlene Whitt of Trinity.
Stanley Grady a music instructor at Alfred J. Griffin Junior High School performed two piano solos "Seven Variations on the National Song God Save" and "A Brown Bird Singing" by Haydn Wood. William Penn's star flutist, praised for four years, played two movements from Handel's Sonata No. 3. The William Penn Clarinet Choir and Woodwind Choir under J. Y. Bell presented Wind Song and Divertimento. The encore featured Puccini's The Good Daughter Overture.
The Modernette Club met at the Adams Memorial YWCA with Mrs. Thomas Prangley leading the session. Plans were set for a social on Nov 11 at Mrs. Max Aldridge's home, 914 Croydon Rd, as members welcomed new attendee Mrs. Perry McDowell and noted the World Fellowship dinner report.
Miss Mary Ann Horney and Kenneth T Miller Jr were feted at a buffet dinner hosted by Dr and Mrs Fortney Mr and Mrs Madison Jr and Mr and Mrs Powell at the Powell home on Bundy Road Jamestown Richard Powell son of the hosts home on leave from the U S Navy attended Miss Horney received white rosebuds and Miller a white rose boutonniere Guests saw a yellow and white main table with imported cutwork linen and three branched candelabra. bridal cards marked each guest seat.
The High Point Republican Women's Club hosts the state executive board meeting at the Sheraton Hotel on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mrs. Vance Hickman, president of the North Carolina Federation of Republican Women, will preside and NC Senator Eldon D. Neilson from the fifth district will be guest speaker.
Mrs Edward Reel Hardin recent bride entertained at a tea at Emerywood Country Club. Hostesses included Mrs Paul Hardin Jr and Mrs Arthur Utley Jr. Guests from Asheboro and Greensboro called between 3 and 5 pm as Yellow roses and lace decor graced the tea with out of town guests present.
