Elmhurst Illinois United Church Board for World Ministries plans to recruit American church members abroad to spread the gospel. About one million of 1.5 million Americans living overseas are baptized church members. The board outlines five requirements for overseas Christians to make the gospel relevant, including job excellence, community involvement, hosting locals at home, tying to local church life, and interpreting America to locals and vice versa.

The Phoenix Jewish Community Center is led by Sylvia Richman. Nursery teacher is Methodist, prekindergarten teachers are Mormon and Episcopalian, the kindergarten teacher is a Baptist with two assistants who are Mormon and Catholic.
The executive secretary of the board of missions of the Western North Carolina Conference of the Methodist Church will speak at First Methodist Church tomorrow at 11 a.m. Rev. Horace McSwain, a Shelby native and 364 graduate, has led mission work in four counties for 11 years after pastorates in Ohio and North Carolina. He was a 1959 FIRST BAPTIST recipient. Next week at First Baptist Church there is Every Member Enlistment Day to pledge funds for the church program.
Mission Weekend will be observed at Green Street Baptist Church tomorrow and Monday with three Southern Baptist missionaries speaking in worship services and a mission study. Rev. William P. Andrews will speak in the morning service and Mrs. Andrews in the evening, as the couple return to Temuco Chile. Mrs. Andrews will also address the Training Union gathering Sunday night with slides of their Chilean work. A Monday mission study, led by Mrs. Alvin E. Spencer Jr., will cover East Asia with a class on Okinawa and slides, dinner, and a second session of slides in the sanctuary. The couple, among Southern Baptists first missionaries to Okinawa, reside at 300 Manor Drive in High Point and work with U.S. service families.
Trinity Methodist Church invites the public to an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. at the new Liberty Drive site. The church, organized in 1921 with 33 charter members, began on Blair Street with its first service in May 1922 led by Rev. W. A. Newell. Groundbreaking occurred October 15, 1961, with contracts let October 18 and construction started promptly. The new facility includes 14 classrooms, pastor’s study, library, Boy Scout Room, Fellowship Room, Kitchen, two choir rooms, and a temporary sanctuary seating 349.
