Hickory Reports Best Market Ever
Hickory furniture makers closed the fall market as the most successful in history with about 2 000 buyers visiting factory showrooms and booths at the Community Furniture Market. Most case goods plants are sold up for the year with deliveries set for January to March, and upholstery plants are in a similar position. A few smaller makers handling special orders can supply Christmas merchandise. The market's strength came partly from slow buying earlier in the year, leaving buyers disappointed for Christmas furniture.
