Edaville Plantations Two-Foot Railroad Delights Cranberry Region
Edaville railroad in Carver Massachusetts operates without ticket collection on a 5.42 mile two foot line built by Ellis D Atwood on his 1800 acre cranberry plantation. The Rangeley parlor car, built for the line, seats visitors in mahogany and silk tassels while a station master and conductor run the operation. The road serves 60 bogs for sand transport and cranberry picking and attracts thousands of summer riders from 48 states plus Canada and Mexico. Tickets, now sold as souvenirs, cost 15 cents and parlor car trips can be reserved for groups.
