A South Carolina statewide poll by Converse College students shows Goldwater with strong statewide support and Thurmond seen as not harmed by his party switch. It notes the survey excluded Negroes and suggests Negro turnout could shift results. 57 returns show 81.5 percent backing Goldwater, 10.3 percent Johnson, and 7.8 percent undecided.
